What type of person do you think Yunior was? Do you feel that he was a true friend to Oscar, or only because of Lola? Oscar respected Yunior, he looked up to Yunior. Do you feel that Yunior repected Oscar and that he really wanted to help Oscar change his life? Why do you feel tht Yunior let his infidelities take over the true person he really is?
#1. Beli suffered a very brutal attack. Do you think it was the curse "fuku" that had caused those gansters to attack her? Or do you believe it was something that just happened? Is it possible to believe all your life that your family is cursed and when something bad happens, believed that it was God that brought you out? What are your thoughts on La Inca spirtual beliefs versus their curse beliefs!
La Inca and Beli's parenting styles and the way they raised their children were very different, (La Inca was more calm and believed that prayer would overcome all things rather than her physically discipling Beli and Beli was a more aggressive and violent parent). Why do you think Beli chose a different parenting style from that of her mother's and do you feel her parenting style was more effective than her mother's? Is Lola following her mother's footsteps and if that's the case, do you feel that the parenting style made any difference after all?

I think that Yunior is a person who gained the reputation of a player. I think that at first he enjoyed the playful reputation. But I think that when it came to Lola, he wanted to be different and have a different reputation, but just felt that he couldn't change or be the person Lola wanted him to be. Honestly, i think that Yunior was scared to become someone different than he was. I think that he was afraid of what might actually happen and if others would accept his change. In the beginning, Yunior became roomies with Oscar only for Lola. But i think as time went on and Oscar and Yunior spent more time together, the two boys grew on each other in a weird, different sort of way. Although they were two totally different people with totally different personalities and lifestyles, they did become friends, weather or not they wanted to admit it. When Yunior was trying to help Oscar get into shape and "get girls", he was genuinely trying to help Oscar better himself. But after Oscar quit the training etc. with Yunior, it sort of insulted Yunior.
I think that Yunior was a young college man just living the college life. yeah he got all the ladies and he knows that he can get any chik he wants but i think he is respectable. i think that when he first moved in with Oscar it was just so he could get with Lola but once he figured out that Oscar looked up to him, he kind of liked that and he wanted better for Oscar. He didn’t have to try and make him exercise or lose weight but he wanted to. I think that he was also a little tired of seeing him eat eight slices of pizza and be emo all the damn time, (that would get on my nerves) so he thought that it would be a good idea to help him try to create a better self image and have some confidence in himself. i think that Yunior has always been true, i think that Lola knew that he wanted her and that he watched over Oscar for her but eventually he had a change in his conscience and really felt bad for Oscar and didn’t want to keep seeing him sad any more so he decided to help him.
I don't think it was a curse that caused Beli to be attacked...I think it was her actions. Apparently, that was a bad time to be living in the DR and she found the wrong man to get tangled with. It is possible to believe in curses, and then believe that you have been saved. I do believe in the power of prayer. (I've seen some crazy stuff happen in my life that I fully attribute to prayer.) However, I also know that there is such a thing as the self-fulfilling prophecy that says, if you believe something will happen, it will. Of course, the Dominicans in this story believe it has to do with fuku...I love the image of La Inca and her spiritual beliefs. It grounds the story and gives a different flavor to the characters.
